The ACT Branch’s 2008 Annual Reception was generously hosted by the High Commissioner for the UK, HE Mrs Helen Liddell, at her residence on 22nd February 2008. Members of a number of worthy associations were the guests of HE for this occasion - those present being in the order of 300.  Over 40 Taverners enjoyed the hospitality of the High Commissioner and Dr Liddell, with the balmy evening weather lending itself to the delightful surroundings of the High Commissioner's garden where we all gathered.  On behalf of all the associations present, the Taverners' President - Rick Forster - proposed a vote of thanks to the High Commissioner and presented her with a bouquet of Australian flowers.  Never known to miss a fund raising opportunity, Nigel French and Mark De Jager raffled a bottle of Para Port (generously donated by Geoff McGuiness) and raised in the order of $850.
