 AGM and ANNUAL DINNER 2008

The Annual General Meeting of the Lord’s Taverners Australia ACT Branch was held at The Royal Canberra Golf Club on 24th July 2008.

The 23rd Annual Report summarised the fund-raising undertaken throughout 2007-2008 and the opportunities this had provided in distribution of funds. The Lord’s Taverners ACT Branch had set up Lord’s Taverners Scholarships making $5,000 available each year for 3 years for 12-20 year-old athletes with a disability, supported the Special Olympics 2008 Second Junior National Games, supported the 2007 Lord’s Taverners Table Cricket Championships, again funded in part the Lord’s Taverners Indigenous Cricket Program and VISACT, sponsored a women’s cricket team – "The Taverners", awarded three ACT Junior Taverners 2007 and winners in the Lord’s Taverners Spirit of Cricket Program, supported the 2008 Disabilities Super Clinic and was a sponsor of a team in the ACTCA Home Loan Centre Premier League. Special mention was made of the splendid work undertaken by Rob Laurie in managing negotiations with the large majority of these worthy causes.

The Financial Statement for the 12 months ended 30 June 2008 was tabled and approved unanimously.
